Day 195- When A Haphazard Joke Became Friendship Goals

The first dance of the high school year happened tonight, well, is currently happening. In high school, the dances go from 9-11 on Thursdays. Tomorrow, every dumb sap who went is going to be absolutely exhausted (and most likely hungover, if we're being real here). Now, I don't like staying up later than 10, but I'm always in bed, winding down at 9. 11 is just too late for a dance to go. Plus, neither Mom nor Dad wanted to wake up and take me home at 11. So, the dance was out of the question.
Grace also didn't particularly want to stay up that late either, so I jokingly said that we should party in my basement from 7 to 9, the general timelines of a middle school dance. As I said it, however, it became more of a possibility.
Thanks to strategic planning, Grace did come over and we did party. She beat me a few times at Just Dance 4, then I beat her more times, then she kinda dented the ceiling, so we switched to Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, where she didn't get booed offstage.
As much as I miss the camraderie of CJ, Brin and me, I think Grace is a worthy addition to my circle of friends, even though her choice in music leaves something to be desired.
P.S. I guess someday, I'll want to remember how I ruled at Karaoke during grade 9 orientation. I was soaked and shivering from the bucket of water I had had poured on me, but I got Smash Mouth's All Star done perfectly, and everyone actually liked it, something I've never accomplished before.
