Day 173- Riding With The Zeppelin (August 31)

As we only had 10 hours to drive on the 31st, we could sleep the whole night and enjoy the continental breakfast, a rarity on long drive days. The only difference is that on this long drive, Dad wouldn't let us watch movies. He said he wanted to listen to local radio. We had already gone through the Hotel Transylvania series and Pixels by that time, so I was a little ready to just settle back and write on my iPod. I got a whole chapter of my vampire story written (chapter 16, I believe), but then I just sat and sang along to the radio, because that's kind of my thing. I like to sing, but I don't always do it in public.
We got Subway for lunch, which was our only pit stop. (I swear, you could pay me for murder with Subway subs.)
After another hour or two of radio, I asked if I could watch "The Song Remains The Same" on the screen. Dad told me we only had two hours left to drive, which I argued by saying the movie was only two hours long. It was agreed I could watch it, providing I use the brain-squeezing wireless headphones. Wasn't a problem for me; time always flies when I'm watching Percy do his thing. I skipped the bits where there wasn't any music playing, and mainly focused on the concert bits, so I could hear "Stairway To Heaven" all the way through. I got a little worried at "Dazed And Confused", because that version is over 20 minutes long, and we were almost home. "Stairway" was the next song up. I practically fan girl-squealed when I saw the skyline opening and the words I've come to associate with the clip: "I think this is a song of hope." (A while back, before I owned the movie, I watched that clip on YouTube before I went to sleep every night)
I clutched my travel pillow the whole time, just focusing on Robert's motions and Jimmy's fingers. When the song ended and "Moby Dick" started up, we got to about the start of the solo, then Dad turned it off. I muttered something along the lines of: "Lucky you didn't stop it in the middle of Stairway, or I'd be pitching a fit."
Once the van had been unpacked, I brought all my records and CDs to the basement and loaded all the Bowie CDs I own into the player for the next day. I opened up the laptop Jon had given me and loaded Dr. Feelgood onto the player. Just for a few giggles, I took a selfie with it and sent it to CJ with the caption: "Hanging with my Crue."
We had a very pleasant conversation after that, and agreed that we had to meet up before school starts on the 7th.
This has to be the most I could ever post on a driving day.
